About this Event

Utopia

Private view: Thursday 27 June, 5.30 – 7.30pm

Incubator is delighted to partner with ClientEarth on Utopia, a group exhibition of five UK-based artists whose practices explore sustainability through experimental media. Featuring work by Alicja Biala, Enej Gala, Ranny Macdonald, Laila Tara H and Emily Wilcock, Utopia will see Incubator operate as a carbon-neutral space throughout the duration of the show with the aim of evolving its sustainable practices for future exhibition-making.

Derived from the Greek words ou, meaning ‘not’, and topos, meaning ‘place’, the ambiguous etymology of Utopia has bred two interpretations of the word: a good place which is no place (i.e., an imaginary location), or that no place is the good place (i.e., utopia is an idea and sentiment, rather than a literal place).

About Incubator

Incubator is a London-based gallery devoted to showcasing the work of exceptional emerging artists. The pulse of Incubator is our solo show programme, which began in 2021.  Each year, the gallery showcases twelve emerging artists through solo exhibitions of two week length — six in Spring and six in Autumn. During the Winter and Summer months,  Incubator curates group exhibitions, featuring the work of emerging talents as well as established  artists.

Incubator is carbon neutral and a member of the Gallery Climate Coalition. The gallery is committed to continually examining our operations in order minimise their impact on the environment.
