About this Event
Some of the most important climate breakthroughs of our time already exist — but what will it take to move them out of the lab and into the world?
TED Countdown and Tencent invite you to meet the 2026 CarbonX program winners: scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs advancing carbon capture and removal, clean energy storage, and industrial-scale climate solutions from prototype to deployment.
Join us and discover how these technologies work, explore the challenges of bringing them to market, and hear directly from the people making it happen.
Speakers include:
- Nigel Topping | UN High Level Climate Action Champion, COP26
- Isabella Tree | Author, conservationist
- Gabrielle Walker | Writer, climate thinker and strategist

TED Countdown mobilizes the world’s boldest problem-solvers to address climate impacts being felt across communities everywhere — from rising energy costs to severe weather. The shift to a cleaner, healthier and more affordable future is already underway. Our mission is to accelerate that momentum by changing the narrative through compelling storytelling, identifying and scaling high-impact solutions, and building a collaborative community by bringing people together across sectors and regions.
The CarbonX Program was initiated in 2023 by Tencent, together with industry, investment and ecosystem partners. It is dedicated to supporting emerging low-carbon technologies with substantial catalytic funding and resources. Now in its second phase, CarbonX 2.0 focuses on cutting-edge CCUS, carbon removal, and long-duration energy storage technologies, and solicits proposals from early-stage teams around the world. It aims to build first-of-its kind pilot projects in real industrial settings, incubate high-potential startups, and support capacity building projects.
