As scrutiny of environmental claims intensifies and greenhushing grows, communicators are operating in a new reality. Regulators in the UK, including the CMA and ASA, are sharpening expectations around sustainability messaging, while stakeholders demand greater transparency and proof. This roundtable will unpack what the evolving greenwashing landscape means in practice and how communications leaders can advise with clarity and confidence. Together, we’ll explore how to align narrative with regulatory reality, protect reputation, and turn compliance pressure into an opportunity to turn compliance pressure into an opportunity to strengthen credibility and competitive advantage.

The session will also explore the unintended consequences of heightened scrutiny, including the rise of greenhushing, and examine how regulators and communicators can balance rigor with the realities of sustainability as a collaborative, long-term and often incremental process. Speakers will feature real-world scenarios and recent enforcement examples to examine how regulators interpret environmental claims in practice.
