Accelerating the Implementation of Resilient and Adaptive Transport Infrastructure

Bentley Systems UK Ltd, 43rd Floor, 8 Bishopsgate, London EC2N 4BQ

About this Event

As climate hazards intensify, transport infrastructure faces growing risks that threaten economic stability, connectivity, and urban resilience. This session will explore how infrastructure stakeholders can accelerate the adoption of safe, sustainable and climate-resilient transport standards and practices worldwide.

As part of London Climate Action Week, the session will bring together city leaders and infrastructure planners to discuss how policy frameworks, risk-informed decision-making, and collaborative finance mechanisms can support more climate-resilient transport networks, boost last-mile connectivity and advance system-wide investment decision-making for adaptation. It will focus on challenges and opportunities for London transport, and compare them to those of other cities.

It will draw upon the Plan to Accelerate Implementation of Resilient and Adaptive Transport Infrastructure, a Global Climate Action Agenda initiative led by ICSI, aimed at providing a structured, collaborative pathway to operationalise resilience through policy reform, financing mechanisms, and capacity building across the infrastructure lifecycle.

The session will spotlight solutions that are just, inclusive and ecologically sound. By fostering stronger standards and knowledge sharing, the discussion will highlight how resilient and adaptive transport systems can safeguard socioeconomic development while reducing vulnerability to climate hazards.

The event will also introduce ICSI’s forthcoming Climate Resilient Infrastructure Report on Transport, which will launch at COP31.

Stay tuned for speaker line-up.

The International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure, The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy

The International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure

The International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI) is the global movement for engineering action on infrastructure sustainability, resilience, and climate change. Founded in 2019, ICSI brings together change agents from across the engineering, finance, academic, policy, and philanthropic communities to solve the systemic problems that exist at the intersection of climate change, ecosystem degradation, ageing infrastructure, and underinvestment.

ICSI works to accelerate the innovation, adoption, and scaling of people-centred, nature-positive infrastructure solutions that support sustainable development. By placing engineers at the forefront of climate action, ICSI connects practical expertise with urgent global needs, developing and scaling solutions that deliver real-world impact where it matters most.

The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy

GCoM is the largest global alliance for city climate leadership, built upon the commitment of over 14,000 cities and local governments. These cities hail from 6 continents and 148 countries. In total, they represent more than 1.2 billion people. Based on current targets and actions, GCoM cities and local governments could collectively reduce global emissions by the equivalent of 4.2 GtCO2 annually by 2050 compared to a business-as-usual trajectory. That’s the equivalent to taking almost 1 billion petrol-powered cars off the road per year.

The cities and partners of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy share a long-term vision of supporting voluntary action to combat climate change. Together, we’re working towards a resilient and low-emission society.
